The gang, consisting of a sister-in-law duo from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, used a unique modus operandi of exchanging fake gold chains with forged hallmark signs for genuine gold jewelry. The main accused, Laxmi Tiwari, was arrested near Bhubaneswar Railway Station with the help of cellphone tracking. Police recovered an iPhone and gold bracelets from her possession. Another member, Sadhna Tiwari, was previously arrested while attempting a similar fraud.
